Let us pray with today’s Gospel Reading (Matthew 25:1-13):
Lord Jesus Christ,
We come before You this blessed Sunday with grateful hearts, ready to worship You in spirit and in truth. Today, You remind us of the ten virgins who went out to meet the bridegroom. Five were wise and carried extra oil for their lamps, while five were foolish and failed to prepare. Through this parable, You call us to remain watchful, faithful, and spiritually prepared, because we do not know the day or the hour when You will come.
Lord, make us wise in the things that truly matter. Do not allow us to become so occupied with the worries, ambitions, and pleasures of this world that we forget our eternal calling. Teach us to keep our lamps burning through prayer, faith, obedience, and good works. May the oil of love, kindness, forgiveness, patience, and compassion never run dry in our hearts.
Lord, forgive us for the times we have allowed our faith to grow weak, our prayer lives to become neglected, and our love for others to grow cold. Forgive us when we have postponed doing good, delayed making peace, or ignored opportunities to serve those in need. Renew our spirits today and give us the grace to live each day as people who are waiting joyfully for the coming of Christ.
As we gather this Sunday for worship, unite us in love and fellowship. Remove every division, resentment, and bitterness among us. May our churches become places where the weary find rest, the broken receive comfort, the lonely experience belonging, and those who have lost hope encounter Your mercy. Help us not merely to hear Your Word but to put it into practice in our homes, workplaces, communities, and relationships.
Lord Jesus, You are the Bridegroom whom our souls await. Keep us faithful when the journey becomes difficult, hopeful when answers seem delayed, and steadfast when the night grows long. When we grow tired, strengthen us; when we stumble, lift us; and when we become distracted, gently lead us back to You. May we never depend on the faith of others but cultivate a living and personal relationship with You.
We pray for our families, our priests, religious leaders, and all members of the Church. Bless those who are sick, comfort those who mourn, provide for those in need, and strengthen everyone carrying a hidden burden. Remember our departed loved ones and grant them eternal rest in Your heavenly kingdom.
Lord, as we celebrate this Sunday, let our worship become a renewed commitment to holiness. May our lamps shine brightly through the good we do, the love we share, and the mercy we show. And when the Bridegroom comes, may we be ready to welcome Him with joy and enter into the everlasting banquet of heaven. Amen
