Let us pray with with today’s Gospel Reading (Matthew 23:1-12)

Lord Jesus Christ, 

You warn us today against hypocrisy, against seeking places of honor and burdens we are unwilling to carry ourselves. You teach us that the greatest among us must be the servant of all, and that whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

O Lord, search my heart and reveal any pride that seeks recognition, any desire to be praised, any tendency to appear righteous while neglecting charity within. Guard me from living only for appearances. Let my faith be sincere, my service generous, and my love authentic.

Lord, You alone are my Teacher. You alone are my Lord. You alone are my Father in heaven. Keep me rooted in this truth, that I may not seek titles or honors, but only to do Your will. When I am tempted to judge others harshly, remind me of my own need for mercy. When I am tempted to impose burdens, teach me to help carry them instead.

Lord Jesus, form in me a servant’s heart, ready to listen, ready to forgive, ready to serve quietly and faithfully. May all that I do be for Your glory and for the good of my brothers and sisters. Clothe me in humility, that I may walk the narrow path that leads to life. Amen
