Let us pray with today’s Gospel Reading (John 5:1-16):

Lord Jesus Christ, You who showed compassion to the sick man at the pool of Bethesda, we come before You with trust and humility. You saw the man who had suffered for many years, waiting for healing and hoping for new life. In Your mercy You approached him, spoke to him with kindness, and restored his strength.

Lord, You know the places in our lives where we feel weak, discouraged, or forgotten. You see the burdens we carry, the wounds that keep us from walking freely, and the sins that leave our hearts paralyzed. Just as You asked the suffering man, “Do you want to be healed?”, You ask each of us today to open our hearts to the transforming power of Your grace. Heal us, Lord. Heal our bodies from illness, our minds from anxiety and confusion, and our souls from the wounds of sin. Give us the courage to rise from whatever keeps us bound, from fear, from resentment, from despair. By Your word, lift us up and help us walk in the freedom of the children of God.

Lord Jesus, You reminded the healed man to live a new life, so that something worse might not happen to him. Teach us to turn away from sin and to follow the path of righteousness and truth. May Your mercy lead us to conversion. May Your love strengthen our faith. May Your presence renew our hope. Help us also to see those around us who suffer in silence, the sick, the lonely, the discouraged, so that we may bring them compassion, just as You did at the pool.

Lord, as we continue our journey of faith, let us never lose confidence in Your power to heal and Your desire to give us new life. Raise us up each day by Your grace so that we may walk in Your light and proclaim Your goodness to the world. Amen
