Let us pray with today’s Gospel Reading (John 6:51-58):
SOLEMNITY OF THE BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST
Lord Jesus Christ,
Living Bread come down from heaven, on this Solemnity of Your Most Holy Body and Blood, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude, wonder, and adoration. You declare to us in today’s Gospel: “I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever.”
Lord, we believe; help our unbelief. Deepen our faith in the mystery of the Holy Eucharist. Open our eyes to recognize Your Real Presence in the Blessed Sacrament of the altar. May we never take for granted this priceless gift through which You remain with Your Church until the end of time. We thank You for giving us not merely a symbol, but Your very Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity, as nourishment for our journey of faith. In every Holy Mass, You feed us with the Bread of Eternal Life and unite us intimately with Yourself.
Lord Jesus, forgive us for the times we have approached the Eucharist carelessly, without reverence, preparation, or gratitude. Forgive us when we have neglected Sunday Mass, or failed to recognize that the Eucharistic Celebration is the source and summit of our Christian life. May we never reduce the Holy Mass to just another gathering, meeting, or devotional service. Help us to treasure the Eucharist as the greatest gift of Your love, the sacrifice of Calvary made present among us, and the sacred banquet that strengthens us for eternal life.
As we receive Your Body and Blood, transform our hearts to become more like Yours. Heal our divisions, strengthen our families, renew our parishes, and deepen the unity of Your Church. Feed the hungry, comfort the suffering, encourage the discouraged, and bring hope to those who feel lost. May the grace of the Eucharist inspire us to become bread broken for others through acts of charity, mercy, and service. Lord Jesus, Bread of Life, keep us close to Your Eucharistic Heart. May every Holy Communion increase our love for You, our faith in Your presence, and our desire to follow You faithfully.
Holy Mary, Woman of the Eucharist, teach us to adore Your Son with humility and love. And when our earthly pilgrimage is ended, lead us to the eternal banquet of heaven, where we shall rejoice forever in the presence of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
