Let us pray with today’s Gospel Reading (Matthew 1:18-23): Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary

God Our Father,

Today we rejoice with the whole Church as we celebrate the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the birth of the woman whom You prepared to become the Mother of Your Son, Jesus Christ. We thank You for the gift of Mary, whose humble life became part of Your wonderful plan of salvation. From her birth, You prepared a dwelling place for the Saviour of the world. Through her “yes,” the promise of Emmanuel— “God is with us”—was fulfilled.

Heavenly Father, through the intercession of Mary, bless our families. Protect mothers and fathers, children, and grandparents. Bring peace to homes divided by misunderstanding, healing relationships wounded by pain, and hope to families facing financial, emotional, or spiritual struggles.

Lord, bless every mother who is carrying the burden of her children in her heart. Give mothers patience, wisdom, courage, and strength. Comfort those who are worried about children who have wandered away from faith or lost their way in life. Remember the sick, the elderly, the lonely, and those who feel forgotten. May Mary, Your tender Mother, accompany us with her maternal love. Lord, bless the Church throughout the world and may we learn from Mary her humility, obedience, purity, courage, and complete trust in God.

Blessed Mother Mary, on this beautiful feast, teach us to welcome God’s plan even when we do not understand everything. Pray for us, dear Mother, that we may never be afraid of what God asks of us. When the future is uncertain, strengthen our trust. When we face difficulties, help us remember that God is with us. When our hearts are troubled, lead us closer to Jesus, our Emmanuel. Teach us to carry Christ into the world through our words, our actions, our kindness, and our love. On this day of your birth, Blessed Mother, may your joy become our joy, your faith become our faith, and your “yes” inspire us to say yes to God every day of our lives. Amen
