Let us pray with today’s Gospel Reading (Luke 12:13-21): The Dangers of Greed

Lord Jesus Christ,

Today, You warn us against greed and remind us that life does not consist in the abundance of possessions. Through the parable of the rich fool, You teach us that earthly riches cannot guarantee lasting happiness, and that all our achievements and possessions are temporary. Help us, Lord, not to spend our lives accumulating things while neglecting the treasures that truly matter: faith, love, compassion, generosity, and a heart that belongs entirely to You.

Lord, as we enter this new week, free us from the temptation to measure our worth by what we own, what we earn, or what others think of us. Teach us to work diligently without becoming slaves to success, to pursue our goals without losing sight of our neighbours, and to use our blessings not only for ourselves but also for the good of others.

Lord Jesus, give us the wisdom to plan for tomorrow while trusting in Your providence today. May our work be honest, our decisions guided by Your truth, and our ambitions rooted in Your will. Keep us humble and generous when we experience abundance. When we face scarcity, grant us patience, courage, and unwavering faith in Your care.

Lord, make us rich in Your sight. Open our eyes to those who are hungry, lonely, sick, discouraged, or in need of a helping hand. May we never become so preoccupied with our own concerns that we fail to recognise the suffering of others. Teach us that every act of kindness, every word of encouragement, every sacrifice made in love, and every gift shared with a generous heart is a treasure that endures before You.

Lord, bless our families, our workplaces, our studies, our ministries, and all the responsibilities entrusted to us this week. Protect us from harm, guide our steps, strengthen those who are weary, heal those who are sick, and comfort those who are carrying heavy burdens. May Your Holy Spirit direct our thoughts, words, and actions so that everything we do may bring glory to Your holy name and at the end of this week, may we look back not only at what we have accomplished, but also at the love we have given, the lives we have touched, and the good we have done in Your name. May this new week be a journey of faith, generosity, gratitude, and spiritual growth. Keep our hearts focused on what is eternal and teach us to be rich in the things that matter to God. Amen
