Let us pray with today’s Gospel Reading (Luke 14:1-6)

Lord Jesus Christ,

On this last Friday of the month of October, we come before You with a grateful heart, thanking You for the gift of life, for Your unfailing mercy, and for the grace that has sustained us throughout this month. As we recall Your Holy Cross, we remember the depth of Your love, a love that does not condemn but saves, a love that does not abandon but restores, and a love that reaches out to the wounded and forgotten.

Lord Jesus, today, You enter the house of a leading Pharisee on the Sabbath, where people watch You closely. Yet, despite their scrutiny and judgment, You remain attentive to the suffering of the man afflicted with dropsy. You ask a question that challenges their hearts: is it lawful to do good on the Sabbath? Then, with compassion, You heal the man and send him away restored.

Lord Jesus, teach us to have a heart like Yours. Deliver us from the temptation to judge others without understanding their struggles. Remove from us every form of pride, prejudice, and indifference that prevents us from seeing the pain of those around us. May we never become so occupied with rules, appearances, or the opinions of others that we forget the greatest commandment of love.

As we contemplate Your Holy Cross, remind us that true love requires sacrifice. On the Cross, You stretched out Your hands for the salvation of the world. You bore our sins, carried our sorrows, and opened the way to eternal life. May Your Cross be our strength when we are weak, our hope when we are discouraged, our light when we are confused, and our refuge when the burdens of life become overwhelming.

Lord, heal every hidden wound in our heart. Restore whatever has been broken by disappointment, fear, betrayal, or uncertainty. Just as You healed the suffering man in the Gospel, touch our life with Your merciful presence. Heal our families, comfort the sick, strengthen those who are weary, provide for those who are in need, and bring peace to those who are troubled.

On this final Friday of October, we surrender to You everything this month has brought, our joys and sorrows, our successes and failures, our answered prayers and unanswered questions. Forgive us for the moments when we failed to love, when we remained silent in the face of another’s suffering, or when we placed our own comfort above the needs of others. As we prepare to enter a new month, help us to begin again with renewed faith, a generous spirit, and a heart willing to serve. May we carry our daily cross with patience, trusting that with You it is never meaningless and that Your resurrection is greater than every trial. Amen
