Let us pray with today’s Gospel Reading (Luke 14:1, 7-11)

Lord Jesus Christ,

Today, You teach us a powerful lesson about humility through the parable of the wedding feast. You warn us against seeking places of honour and recognition, reminding us that whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted. Teach us the beauty of true humility. Deliver our heart from pride, arrogance, jealousy, and the desire to be praised by others. Forgive us for the moments when we have sought recognition rather than service, attention rather than compassion, and personal glory rather than Your glory. Help us to understand that our worth does not depend on human approval, positions, titles, or possessions, but on the unconditional love You have for us.

Lord, give us a humble heart that is willing to serve without expecting applause, to love without demanding recognition, and to forgive without keeping records of past offences. May we never consider ourselves greater than others but always remember that every person carries a dignity given by You. Teach us to recognise Your presence in the poor, the forgotten, the rejected, and those who cannot repay our kindness.

As this month of October comes to an end, we surrender to You everything that the month has brought into our life. We place before You our achievements and disappointments, our unanswered prayers, our hidden struggles, our fears about tomorrow, and the burdens we have carried silently. Where we have failed, grant us Your mercy. Where we have been wounded, bring healing. Where we have become discouraged, renew our hope. Where pride has taken root in our heart, plant the seeds of humility and love.

Lord, as we prepare to enter a new month, help us not to be consumed by the desire to compete with others or prove our importance. Instead, teach us to walk quietly with You, to recognise that every blessing is a gift, every opportunity is a responsibility, and every day is another chance to become more like You. Bless our families, friends, colleagues, and all those who have been part of our journey this month. Remember those who are sick, lonely, grieving, unemployed, and struggling to provide for their families. May they experience Your compassion and discover that they are never forgotten.

Lord Jesus, may our life become a reflection of Your humility. You who are Lord of all chose to become a servant for our salvation. Give me the grace to follow Your example, choosing love over pride, service over status, and kindness over selfish ambition. Amen
