Let us pray with today’s Gospel Reading (Matthew 5:1-12)

Almighty Father, As we begin this new month and gather on this Sunday before You, we lift our hearts in gratitude for the gift of Your Word and for the blessings You desire to pour upon our lives. Lord Jesus, You went up the mountain and taught Your disciples, revealing the path of true happiness through the Beatitudes. At the threshold of this new month of February, impart upon us the grace to walk this path with faith and courage.

Bless us to be poor in spirit, that we may begin this month aware of our need for You and place our trust not in ourselves, but in Your loving providence. Bless us when we mourn, that our sorrow for sin, injustice, and suffering may open our hearts to Your healing and lasting comfort. Bless us with meekness, that our strength may be guided by humility, our anger purified by love, and our lives shaped by obedience to Your will. Bless us with a hunger and thirst for righteousness, so that in this new month we may seek what is right, stand for truth, and work for justice in our families, our communities, and our world.

Bless us to be merciful, that as we receive Your mercy each day, we may extend forgiveness, compassion, and patience to others. Bless us with purity of heart, that our intentions may be sincere, our choices guided by love, and our eyes fixed on You in all we do. Bless us to be peacemakers, especially in times of division, conflict, and misunderstanding, that we may be instruments of unity, reconciliation, and hope. And bless us when we are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, that we may never lose heart, but remain faithful, trusting in the promise of Your Kingdom.

As we step into this new month, O Lord, let the Beatitudes be our blessing, our compass, and our prayer. May Your grace go before us, Your Spirit strengthen us, and Your joy remain within us. Amen!
