Let us pray with today’s Gospel Reading (John 19:25-34): Memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church

God Our Father,

On this blessed day, as we celebrate the Memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church, we gather at the foot of the Cross with Mary, contemplating the love of Christ poured out for the salvation of the world. Lord Jesus Christ, from the Cross You looked upon Your Mother and the beloved disciple and said: “Woman, behold your son… Behold your mother.” In that sacred moment, You entrusted Mary to the Church and the Church to Mary. Today, we receive with gratitude the gift of Mary as our loving Mother. Teach us, like the beloved disciple, to welcome her into our homes, our hearts, and our journey of faith.

Mother Mary, you stood faithfully beneath the Cross, steadfast in sorrow, unwavering in love, trusting even in moments of darkness. Teach us to remain faithful when life is difficult, to stand firm in hope amid suffering, and to trust God’s promises even when we do not understand.

Lord Jesus, from Your pierced side flowed blood and water, signs of the sacraments and the birth of the Church. Wash us clean by Your mercy, renew us through the grace of our Baptism, and nourish us through the Eucharist, that we may become living witnesses of Your love.

As we begin this week after Pentecost, may the Holy Spirit continue to guide and strengthen us. May Mary, Mother of the Church, walk beside us as she walked with the apostles, helping us grow in unity, prayer, and missionary zeal. Protect Your Church throughout the world. Comfort the suffering, strengthen the weak, heal divisions, and inspire all believers to live as faithful disciples of Christ. Holy Mary, Mother of the Church, pray for us. Mother of mercy, accompany us. Mother of hope, strengthen us.  Amen
