Let us pray with today’s Gospel Reading (Matthew 10:7-13):

Memorial of Saint Barnabas, Apostle

Lord Jesus Christ,

In today’s Gospel, You sent Your disciples forth with a simple yet powerful mission: “Go and proclaim that the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.” As You sent Your apostles into the world, send us also. Make us courageous messengers of Your love, bringing hope to the discouraged, peace to the troubled, and faith to those searching for meaning and purpose.

Lord, You instructed Your disciples to travel with trust in God’s providence. Teach us to rely less on our own resources and more on Your grace. When we are anxious about the future, remind us that You are our Shepherd and Provider. You commanded Your disciples to heal the sick, raise up the brokenhearted, and bring peace wherever they went. Help us to become instruments of Your healing presence. May our words encourage, our actions uplift, and our lives reflect the compassion of Christ.

Lord Jesus, You said, “Freely you have received; freely give.” Deliver us from selfishness and teach us generosity of heart. May we share freely the gifts, talents, opportunities, and blessings You have entrusted to us.

On this Feast of St. Barnabas, known as the “Son of Encouragement,” grant us the grace to build others up rather than tear them down. May we be people who inspire faith, foster unity, and strengthen the bonds of Christian charity. Bless missionaries, priests, religious, catechists, and all who dedicate their lives to proclaiming the Gospel. Strengthen those who labor in difficult circumstances and grant them perseverance and joy in their mission.

As we go about our responsibilities today, may we carry Your peace into every encounter. May our homes, workplaces, communities, and parishes become places where Your Kingdom is welcomed and Your love is made visible.St. Barnabas, faithful Apostle and companion of the early Church, Pray for us. Amen
