Let us pray with today’s Gospel Reading (Matthew 5:38-42):

Lord Jesus Christ,

In today’s Gospel, You teach us the difficult but life-giving path of love, forgiveness, and generosity. You call us not to repay evil with evil, nor injury with revenge, but to respond with hearts transformed by Your mercy. Lord, this teaching is not easy. When we are hurt, misunderstood, or treated unfairly, our natural instinct is to defend ourselves or seek retaliation. Yet You invite us to a higher way—the way of the Cross, the way of self-giving love.

Grant us the grace this week to forgive those who have offended us, to be patient with those who test our limits, to show kindness where there is hostility, and to respond with charity rather than resentment. When we encounter conflict, give us the wisdom to seek peace. When we face disappointment, give us the strength to persevere. When we are burdened by anxiety, remind us that You are always with us.

Lord Jesus, teach us to be generous in spirit, ready to share our time, our resources, and our compassion with those in need. May we not cling selfishly to what we have but recognize that all we possess is a gift entrusted to us for the service of others.

As we place this week before You, Lord, we entrust to Your Sacred Heart our families and loved ones, our work and studies, our parish and community, the sick and the suffering, the lonely and forgotten, and all those who seek Your comfort and guidance. Protect us from harm, strengthen us against temptation, and keep us faithful to Your Gospel. May every word we speak and every action we take reflect Your love and bring glory to Your name. Amen
