Let us pray with today’s Gospel Reading (Matthew 5:43-48):

Lord Jesus Christ, You command us: “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” These words challenge us deeply, for they call us to love not only those who are kind to us, but also those who have hurt, disappointed, misunderstood, or opposed us.

Lord, we confess that such love is impossible by our own strength. Therefore, we ask for the grace of the Holy Spirit to transform our hearts. Where there is resentment, grant us forgiveness. Where there is bitterness, grant us healing. Where there is anger, grant us peace. Where there is division, grant us reconciliation. Teach us to see others as You see them—beloved children of the Father, created in His image and called to salvation.

Lord, help us to pray sincerely for those who have wronged us. Bless them with Your mercy, enlighten them with Your truth, and draw them closer to Your Heart. May our prayers become instruments of healing both for them and for ourselves.

Lord, You remind us that the Father makes His sun rise on the good and the bad alike and sends rain upon the just and the unjust. Help us to reflect this generous and impartial love in our daily lives. May we not love selectively, but generously; not conditionally, but freely. As we journey through this day, protect us from the temptation to judge harshly, to seek revenge, or to harbor grudges. Instead, fill us with the humility, patience, and compassion that characterized Your earthly life.

Lord Jesus, You call us to be perfect as our Heavenly Father is perfect. Though we are weak and imperfect, help us to grow daily in holiness. May every act of charity, every gesture of forgiveness, and every sacrifice offered in love make us more like You. We entrust to You our families, our communities, our Church, and all those with whom we struggle to live in peace. Heal broken relationships, soften hardened hearts, and make us builders of unity and reconciliation. Amen
