Solemnity of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist

God Our Father,

On this joyful Solemnity of the Nativity of John the Baptist, we praise and thank You for the wonderful works You accomplish through those who place their trust in You. As You filled the life of John with grace from the very beginning, fill our hearts today with the light of Your Holy Spirit.

Lord God, In the birth of John the Baptist, You revealed that nothing is impossible for You. You brought joy to Elizabeth and Zechariah, turning their waiting into wonder and their silence into praise. Help us to trust in Your timing, especially when our prayers seem unanswered and our hopes delayed.

Lord Jesus, Like John, help us to be witnesses of truth in a world often confused by falsehood and distraction. Give us the courage to speak the truth with charity, to defend what is right with humility, and to remain faithful even when doing so requires sacrifice.

St. John the Baptist, You were chosen to prepare the way for the Lord and to point others to Jesus. Teach us to live our vocation with the same humility, courage, and faithfulness. May we never seek our own glory but always direct others to Christ, saying with our lives: “He must increase, I must decrease.”

Lord Jesus, like St. John who grew and became strong in spirit, strengthen us also in faith, hope, and love. Form our hearts through prayer, Your Word, and the sacraments. Help us to grow daily in holiness and to become faithful disciples who prepare the way for Your coming into the hearts of others.

We pray for the Church throughout the world. Bless all who proclaim the Gospel: bishops, priests, deacons, religious, catechists, missionaries, and all the faithful. May their witness lead many people to encounter Christ and embrace His saving love. We also pray for children and young people. May they discover God’s purpose for their lives and respond generously to His call. Protect them from all harm and guide them along the path of truth and virtue. Amen
