Let us pray with today’s Gospel Reading (Matthew 16:24-28):

God Our Father,

On this Friday, as we remember the saving Cross of Your Son, we thank You for the immeasurable love You have shown us through His sacrifice. We come before You with humble hearts, seeking the grace to follow Christ more faithfully each day.

Lord Jesus, You call us to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow You. Teach us that the Cross is not a burden to fear but the path that leads to true freedom, lasting joy, and eternal life. Give us the courage to choose Your will over our own, Your truth over the ways of the world, and Your love over selfish ambition. When we are tempted to seek comfort without sacrifice or success without faithfulness, remind us that “what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world but forfeits his life?” Help us to treasure what is eternal above what is passing, and to place You at the center of every decision we make.

Lord, strengthen all who carry heavy crosses today—the sick, the poor, the lonely, the persecuted, and those burdened by grief or uncertainty. May they find hope in Your presence and discover that You walk beside them in every trial.

O Holy Spirit, transform our hearts so that we may embrace each day with generosity, humility, and unwavering trust in God. May our words and actions reflect the self-giving love of Christ, becoming a source of hope and encouragement to all we meet. Amen
