Let us pray with today’s Gospel Reading (John 12:24-26): Feast of Saint Lawrence, Deacon and Martyr

God Our Father,

We thank You for the gift and witness of St. Lawrence, Deacon and Martyr, whose life reminds us that true greatness is found not in possessing but in giving, not in preserving ourselves but in offering ourselves for love of Christ.

Lord Jesus, You tell us that unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains only a grain; but if it dies, it produces much fruit. Teach us to understand the mystery of the Cross, that sacrifice offered in love is never wasted, and that every life generously given to You can bear abundant fruit.

Like St. Lawrence, give us courage to serve the poor, defend the dignity of the vulnerable, and place our gifts at the service of Your Church. Free us from selfishness, attachment, and the desire for recognition. May we seek not to be served but to serve. When we are afraid of sacrifice, remind us that whoever loves his life only for himself will lose it, but whoever gives his life for Your sake will discover true and everlasting life.

O Holy Spirit, give us the faith of the martyrs, the generosity of the Saints, and the humility of true servants. May our daily sacrifices, however small, become seeds of love, hope, and grace for those around us.
