Let us pray with today’s Gospel Reading (Luke 6:39-42):

God Our Father,

On this Friday, we pause to remember with grateful hearts the immense love of Christ, who gave Himself for our salvation. As we listen to His words in today’s Gospel, teach us to look first into our own hearts before judging the lives of others.

Lord Jesus, give us the humility to recognise our own weaknesses, faults, and sins. Remove from our hearts every spirit of pride, hypocrisy, criticism, and self-righteousness. Before we point at another person’s failure, help us to kneel before Your Cross and remember how much mercy we ourselves have received.

Lord Jesus, You are our true Teacher and Guide. Keep us from becoming blind guides who speak about holiness while neglecting conversion of heart. Let Your light shine first within us, so that our lives may become a witness to Your love. On this Friday, we remember Your Passion and the price of our redemption. When we look at the Cross, may we see not condemnation but the depth of God’s mercy. You loved us while we were still sinners and gave Your life so that we might have life.

Lord, give us the grace to examine our conscience honestly. Heal the areas of our lives that need healing. Where there is pride, give us humility. Where there is resentment, give us forgiveness. Where there is judgement, give us compassion. Where there is weakness, give us strength.

Lord Jesus, before we try to remove the splinter from another person’s eye, help us to allow You to remove the beam from our own. Make us people who correct with love, speak with humility, forgive generously, and see others through the eyes of mercy. May this Friday draw us closer to Your Cross and remind us that our salvation is a gift of love, purchased not by our perfection, but by Your mercy. Amen
